Skills Manitoba

The highlight of Skills Canada Manitoba is our Skills Competition. Students participate in challenges designed to test skills required in trades and technology careers. The philosophy of the Skills Competition is to reward students for excellence, directly involve industry in evaluating student performance, and keep training programs relevant to employers' needs.

Winners of the provincial competition may form Team Manitoba and compete against their peers at the Skills Canada National Competition.

Over 475 high school, post secondary and apprentice students compete in 42 skilled trades and technology contests in six industry sectors.

Over 500 volunteers contribute their time and energy to this event.

Scope documents are devised by provincial technical committees which are made up of industry professionals and educators. The scopes outline the nature of each contest and the areas of knowledge to be tested. Each scope is specific to the competition.

The 17th Annual Skills Manitoba Competition will be held at Red River College (Notre Dame and The Roblin Centre campuses), April 10, 2014.
